AN ASSESSMENT OF READING TEXTS AND SUB-TEXT QUESTIONS IN ISTANBUL METHOD BOOKS USED AS SET IN TEACHING TURKISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

In this study, B2 course and workbooks belonging to publication group of ?stanbul Yabanc?lar ?çin Türkçe Seti, which are used in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language, are examined. The subject of the study consists of basic language skills, cultural transmission, reading texts, sub-text questions and standard units within these two books. In this research, not only the reading texts and the types of questions based on the text within these workbooks were determined, but also the cultural elements accompanying the texts were mentioned. ?stanbul Yabanc?lar ?çin Türkçe Seti in the coursbook of the B2 composed 6 sets have been selected. These units selected have been examined in 9 items. As a result of studying these books, the interview forms have been distributed to teachers teaching Turkish as a foreign language, all informations obtained have been evaluated by classification of similarities and differences. As a result: '?stanbul'' level at B2 used in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language, the reading texts and the findings about the subtext questions have been evaluated in the framework of a comparison. In addition, the deficiencies identified in both books, the positive and negative aspects of the books are tried to be determined in the comments and suggestions section.
