Fethiye district is one of the major weaving centers in province of Mu?la that Anatolian weaving culture created a rooted tradition. The weaving was made in many villages of Fethiye such as Seki, Kemer, Seydiler, Atl?dere, Eldirek, Bo?alar, Esenköy, Kayaba??, Dodurga, Arsaköy, Kad?köy. Flat weavings are manufactured with kilim, jejim and sili techniques or a combination of these techniques for a variety of usage purposes in Fethiye. Eldirek, Seydiler kilim, kilim with mirror, yellow prayer, kilim with yant?r, alara kilim, karaçul and alaçul are important textiles widely weaving in Fethiye and its villages. The subject of this study is alaçul weavings that woven of using a combination of jejim and zili techniques. Warp and weft yarns of alaçul are goat hair, third or motif yarn is dyed woolen yarn. Alaçul is a king of ground cloth that is created motifs and patterns on it according to the technique. Motif is called ala in the region of Fethiye. Alaçul known with this name in the region due to the motifs take place on them. Chemical and natural dyes are used in combination dyeing motif yarns. Dyes that ready for sale in the market and called dust dye by weavers have been used as chemical dyes. Several vegetables are used as natural dyes. In this study, alaçul weavings were examined in terms of materials used, weaving technique, size, colors, designs and patterns characteristics and flat-weaving tradition in the region tried to explain.
