AKSARAY–ALAY HAN'S DOUBLE-BODY LION FIGURINE MYSTERY

This study was conducted in Seljuk Sultan II. K?l?ç Arslan's Aksaray'da Alayhan caravanserai in the double-body singleheaded lion figure is focused. Every building, every article etc. Things are a material cultural product and these products carry the cultural characteristics of civilization to which they belong. The Seljuk State has often included animal depictions as ornamental elements in the architecture of the region it has. Later on in recognition of Islam, animal depictions of different architectural works were observed. The Seljuk’s, especially as a symbol, gave a large place to the lions reliefs. In this study II. The reason why the single-headed lion figurine seen in Alay Khan caravanserai built by K?l?ç Arslan in Aksaray only existed in this caravanserai. In the other architectural monuments built during the Seljuk State, this symbol has not been seen, and in the study, the reasons why this symbol is here were evaluated with the ideas we have put forward
