ÇAĞDAŞ SOKAK GÖSTERİLERİNDE DEV KUKLANIN DRAMATİK ANLATIM AÇISINDAN ROLÜTHE ROLE OF GIANT PUPPETS IN CONTEMPORARY STREET PERFORMANCES WITH REGARDS TO DRAMATIC EXPRESSION

Giant puppets had been used in rituals and parades for ages. Except religious and non-religious ceremonies, these puppets are also used for theatrical performances, parades, spectacles, and politic demonstrations. Due to their large proportions they belong to outside consequently to streets. This study aims to scrutinize how giant puppets integrate with contemporary multi-disciplined theatrical street performances and exhibit the shared features of companies which enables this integration. The companies which work in th is manner are the ones who choose streets as venues and congregate theater, circus, puppetry, music and sometimes dance when creating performances. Therefore, the examples are selected among companies Royal De Luxe, Compagnie Malabar, Carros de Foc Street Theater and Close-Act Theatre. Before mentioned companies will be reviewed in the concept of dynamics of spectacles which include giant puppets.
