Abstract

Author(s): Hasan TÜRKMEN

The faith-Islam relationship basically is the debate that these two concepts whether or not are the same in terms of their intended purpose and content. At first sight, this subject is viewed as a problem to be deal with from different perspectives. From this respect, this subject could both be limited to certain scholar’s view or a movement’s perspective or could be studied in respect to a defined historical period. Thus, this title within the study process imposes a framework or restriction about the study itself. This framework and limitation not only draws the methodology and content of the study but also requires working on the problem from theological and linguistic perspective. In this study, how to Abu al-Barakat an-Nasafî, who is one of the Muslim- Turkish theologians of the Mâturîdiyyah tradition in the Transoxania (Mâ warâ’un-Nahr) region, has deal with problem of the faith-action relationship by considering both their own approaches and also alternative approaches tried to be released.
