Ab? al-Q?sim al-Ka‘b?, one of the eminent Mutazilite figures, has been regarded the founder of a particular school called alKa‘biyya for his original understanding of kal?m. As also being part of Baghdat Mutazilite, al-Ka‘b? drew the attention of both alM?tur?d? and al-Ash‘ar? from different perspectives, putting him forward in later traditions. As a matter of fact, al-M?tur?d? in his Kit?b al-Tawh?d criticises him vigorously. Though very few from al-Ka‘b?’s works are extant, it is known that his Kit?b al-Maq?l?t is one of the most important sources of al-Ash‘ar?’s Maq?l?t al-Isl?miyy?n. At the end of this book, al-Ka‘b? adds his work on speculative theology, ‘Uy?n al-Mas?’il. In this work, al-Ka‘b? briefly discusses reasoning, temporality and finitude of the universe, accidents and their temporality, necessity of the creator, fundamental qualities that separate the creator and temporal beings and lastly the divine justice (al-ta‘d?l wa’l-tajw?r). Thus the subject matter of this article is the content analysis of this work and al-Ka‘b?’s kal?m method followed in it.
