Fanzines are publications that generally touch on topics outside the mainstream, heavily feature collages, are usually reproduces via photocopy, are produced and distributed independently (individually or as a collective), are non-profit, and serve as tools of expression for sub-cultures or alternative statements. One type of fanzines is sports fanzines, which have emerged after the 1970s as independent publications of fan groups predominantly in England, and predominantly in football. Sports fanzines in Europe and America can generally be observed to have content that echoes the voices of contrary fans or criticizes the industrialization of the sport. This study aims to understand and describe football fan fanzines. Thus, the names, and the visual and textual contents of the cover pages of football fan fanzines(n=37) published in Turkey after 2000 have been analysed via qualitative methods. This study that employs the method of thematic analysis also uses the technique of purposeful sampling. The first issues of football fan fanzines obtained via document analysis have been included in the data set. The discovered themes have been compared to literature, and the similarities and differences have been discussed. The study has discovered that football fan fanzine producers prefer color printing, and employ fan groups’ names, local elements, and team symbols as primary themes in fan fanzine names. The visual elements of football fan fanzines have been revealed to employ, emotions of camaraderie, iconic figures, ideological elements, nostalgic elements, team symbols, whereas the textual elements on the cover have been identified to heavily feature opposition to industrial football, solidarity, ultra-emotions (positive and negative), feature social sensitivity, and themes of eternal commitment to the team.
