A STUDY ON THE LEVELS OF CHILD ABUSE OF MOTHERS WHO HAVE 4-6 YEAR-OLD CHILDREN RELATED TO THEIR MOTHERS' PERCEİVED SEXUAL ROLES AND WORK LIFE

Any research or approaches developed about the child abuse or child violence is not able to explain the reasons of subject alone. For this reason the situation has been going on without any decrease for among new generations. It is known that there are several factors affecting and giving rise to child abuse/violence at our present time. From this point of view, this study aims at investigating the relation between the levels of motherhood negligence of mothers who has 4-6 year old children, their perceived sexual roles and work life. Study sample consists of 234 mothers having 4-6 aged children. Data collection instruments are Negligence Awareness Scale-Parents Form for measuring their negligence, Bem Sexuality Role Inventory to determine their perception and Attitude Scale for Working Women. Correlation and multiple regression analysis were used for the data analysis. According to the correlation results there is a meaningful relation between the negligence level of mothers, their sexual roles and their attitudes towards working out. Multiple regression results show that sexual roles and attitude towards working are important determining variables of child abuse. Findings were discussed within the frame of literature and related research, several suggestions were developed accordingly.
