The building who was built in the rectangular form to the east-west direction has a minaret with square- bedplate which is adjacent to the northern wall. Built date of the building is unknown. Considering architectural features like minaret structure, structural technique and the minaret's tile decortion, it is predicted that it was built, in XIII. Century, under the Seljuks period. K?z?l Cami (Red Mosque) is surrounded by stone-covered roads on south, east and west and by courtyard on north. Stairs help relieving the elevation difference between the courtyard and east and west streets that are located on east and west of the courtyard. K?z?l Cami (Red Mosque) is on a rectangular layout of 9.84x17.80 m. sizes. Covering of the building's interior is done by cradle vaults on the sides and dome over the middle square space. Weight of the dome and pendentives are transferred to the walls through arches. Sharp cradle vaults which go through north-south direction are completed by two arch bases of 0.94x1.21 m. sizes each, which with four arches over two each and dome of 3.92 m. diameter in the center. The mosque's interior ground floor level, two freestone bedplates where abutments are sit on, altar aclove, pulpit bedplate, jambs for doors and windows are observed during the scientific excavation works in 2013. Courtyard elements, a water well and street pattern were discovered during the external excavation at outside of the mosque. Survey, restitution and restoration construction documents are prepared again for all new data which came out as a result of the excavations done by Directorate of Restoration Programme at Van Yüzüncü Y?l University, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Architecture. Repair works for the buildings are continued by Foundations Regional Directorate of Bitlis.
