A STRATEGY PROPOSAL TO MUSIC TEACHER CANDIDATES FOR RECOGNIZING AKSAK USULS IN MUSICAL DICTATION STUDIES: DISSECTIONING, RHYTHMIC SUMMARIZING AND POLYRHYTHMIC TAPPING

This paper aims to develop a strategy that will facilitate the recognizing of the four usûls, which generally called “aksaq usûls” in Turkish Music. In this study, a learning strategies component was used for recognizing the traditional usûls easily. These learning strategies are called “dissectioning”, “rhythmic summarizing” and “polyrhythmic tapping”. The study group consisted of 12 students who are studying in the Department of Music Education, Faculty of Education, Mugla S?tk? Kocman University in the Spring Semester of 2018-2019 academic year. These students were selected according to their success points in MIOY III course (Musical ear training, solfeggio and writing III) in the previous semester. The study has a weak experimental structure and the pretest-posttest control groupless pattern was used. In the posttest students achieved an important success in comparison to pretest. In follow-up study students’ scores have decreased in comparison to the posttest, nevertheless, it was observed that there was a significant success graph by the follow-up test in comparison to the pretest.
