A SINOPTIC CLIMATOLOGY OF LODOS IN TURKEY (A CASE OF SAMSUN PROVINCE)

The purpose of this study is to explain the genetic of effective Lodos wind between 31 January - 2 February 2015, in Turkey, identify general characteristics and to reveal general and environmental impacts in Samsun province. For this purpose, Some meteorological data and analysis were based on synoptic maps of Lodos effective days. Lodos is one of the developing local winds groups which are related to the general circulation of the atmosphere, it begins when the developing cyclones in the Mediterranean basin approach to Turkey. In the Lodos dominated days, the sea level pressure decreases, temperatures increase, humidity decreases and strong winds occur, and thus can lead to loss of lives and properties, and negatively affect the transportation.
