A SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENTS AS A WAY FOR POLITICAL COMMUNICATION: THE CASE OF "AK PARTY/CHP/MHP"

Political ads are the most effective tools of a political campaigns. Political ads are called as a form of propaganda that use mass communication media. This is a way that is being used to influence voters. The paper will carry out political ads during political campaigns because it is an integral part of political communication. The study will analyse 3 major parties’ (AKP, MHP, CHP) political campaign ads during the 1 November 2015 Elections. A semiotic analysis will be done by scrutinising the most important political ad film of the three major parties. Using semiotics, the narrative and the general descriptions about the ads will be studied. In addition, the ads will be analysed in terms of colour, target audience and how they are interpreted, through visual analysis.
