A RESEARCH ON AFFORDANCES OF KINDERGARTEN GARDENS TO PROVIDE CHILDREN

For to be a healthy adult in the future, the most important period in which the personality bases are introduced is the early childhood period between the ages of 0-6, called pre-school. In today's cities, children are growing in artificial environments by being torn from nature. It is the kindergarten where this age group spends time. The original of the kindergarten word from pre-school education means garden for children. This definition clearly demonstrates that children should be in a light green environment for a healthy education. Outdoor spaces help children to be together with nature, to meet their needs such as play, socialization and to promote their healthy development. For this reason, kindergarten gardens should be designed according to children's game needs and should be able to offer children play facilities. In this study, Ata Koleji kindergarten garden in Trabzon; physical characteristics and play facilities provided to children. As a result of the interviews and observations made, children in these school gardens; hiding, sliding, swinging, playing ball, running, jumping, jumping, various games and discoveries with animals and plants, digging the earth, planting, activities. However, in general, if water, sand, and other materials are added to the gardens, it is considered that the game possibilities will increase. Also vegetable material and color should be increased.
