A RESEARCH FOR DEMONSTRATING THE IMPRESSION MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES OF INDIVIDUALS ON FACEBOOK IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL MEDIA

In this study, assessments of how impression management strategies and tactics are used in displaying impression management behaviors according to how individuals share their impressions on their Facebook profile pages were made through content, visual or photographs they share. A total of ten people were selected from the list of friends on my personal page on Facebook which is a social networking site, and their impression management strategies were searched. In addition to the cover and profile photographs of the users, the photographs, messages and videos they share on their Facebook page are examined by analyzing them within the framework of semiotics and discourse analysis discipline. A total of 60 images were examined with 4 male and 6 female participants. As a result of the research, it is seen that the technology, which shows its effect in every field, has an effective position in terms of interpersonal communication and interaction. On Facebook which is an online social networking site, it was seen that individuals have begun to display impression management strategies they used in face-to-face communication.
