The article focuses on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and analyzes the characteristics of the self-realizing individual. Maslow searched the elite and tried to figure out what motivated people and then he stated that people are motivated to achieve certain needs. According to Maslow, when one need is fulfilled a person seeks to fulfil the next one. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs has had a significant impact on the field of psychology and communication. To show this effect, a popular animated film, Ratatouille, was chosen. The Ratatouille film was resolved in terms of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Pixar's film was chosen because it was seen as one of the works that reversed the established values of society. In this analysis it was aimed to demonstrate that people are motivated to go through their needs. It is the other purpose of the research to show which steps have been taken for the sake of self-actualization. In the film, the need for self-actualization was presented with the life story of the rat which wanted to be a cook. According to the results of the study, the characteristics of the self-actualized person are to communicate effectively, to value himself and others, to be loved and counted, to be helpful, to be understanding, to show patience and persistence, to never give up and to be problem-centered. Motivation and courage in people's self-actualization were found to be important factors. Another result of the study is that the effectiveness of communication within the family increases the success in business life.
