A late Otoman period mudarris, MuhammadZaheed al-Kavsari was a member of Circassian family who migrated from Cavcasia to Turkiye and settled in Düzce. Kavsari was born in Düzce and received his first education from his father, a reverent religious scholar. He went to Istanbul to go on his education in a madrasa and became a student of renowned scholars. Having successfully completed his education in madrasas, Kavsari started teaching in the madrasas first in Istanbul and then in Kastamonu. He came back to Istanbul from Kastamonu and undertook various missions including deputy heikhul-slam. Kavsari, a renowned Islamic scholar who has profound knowledge in many Islamic sciences, had to move to Egypt in 1922 and sependremaning part of his life there. He wrote dosens of works both in Istanbul and Egypt. One of his works on f?k?h (Islamic Law) is “al-IfâkalâAhkami’t-Talâk”
