UPPER CLASS DOMINATION OVER SUBCLASS BASED ON LIFESTYLE IN THE CONTEXT OF BOURDIEU’S STRATIFICATION THEORY

Bourdieu has distinguished three sort of social classes, the first is dominant or upper class which has efficiently all kind of capital and distinguishes itself from other classes intentionally. Besides, it survives by imposing its own values and norms upon other classes. The second is petit bourgeois which simulates upper class. The last one is public class who are weaker in terms of economic, cultural and social capital. In this paper from point of view Bourdieu’s stratifications theory, upper social classes approach to protect their boundaries by which lifestyle, and therefore their distinction strategies of outsiders is discussed on the basis of elites and conservatives in Turkey.
