The purpose of this research is to try to determine the meaning of “our Oath”, which is a very important function in ensuring national unity for our country, in terms of teacher candidates through metaphors. In the academic year 2017-2018, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Faculty of Education, 4. teachers studying in the classroom constitute candidates (n=437). 312 of the teachers were female (71.39%) and 125 were male (28.61%). The metaphors of the prospective teachers were collected through the interview form. The metaphors and justifications used by the teacher candidates regarding the concept of “our Oath” have been analyzed by the content analysis technique. According to the results of this analysis, 733 metaphors were produced. Metaphors have been collected in thirteen categories. The most derived metaphors are in the category of "seeing as value". This situation shows that our oath is among the sine qua non values for the Turkish nation. Although our oath has different meanings, teacher candidates have expressed the necessity of our oath in their metaphors. More studies are needed to compare the results of the research.
