THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE DESTINATION COMPETITIVENESS: A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS IN FETHIYE AND MARMARIS

The aim of this research is to reveal the competitive factors of Fethiye and Marmaris in Mu?la, to compare the competitive advantages of Fethiye and Marmaris and to determine whether these advantages differ by demographic variables or not. The data was obtained through survey technique from English tourists visiting Fethiye and Marmaris in summer of 2016. In accordance with the obtained data, the factors influencing the destination competitiveness are demand conditions, tourist services, tourist facilities, local facilities and cultural & natural attractions. Besides, the effects of gender, age, education, income, accommodation type and length of stay on the factors influencing the destination competitiveness is significantly different for tourists visiting Fethiye and Marmaris and also, opinions of tourists visiting Marmaris and the ones visiting Fethiye about destination competitiveness are different.
