SELECTING CHILDREN’S SONGS IN MUSIC EDUCATION: CURRICULUM, TECHNICAL-PHYSICALEMOTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES, AND OTHER FACTORS

Each lesson offered to students are proceeded with certain preliminary preparations in educational environments. Based on an appropriate education plan, there are certain preparations teachers must make; such as making the educational environment physically ready and organizing the lesson plan. The part where the lessons can be effectively conducted and comprehension of students can be increased is the equipment part. Instruments and songs can be used as equipment in music lessons. Purpose of this study is to reveal the factors to be considered by young music teachers while selecting songs; in terms of curriculum, technical-physical-emotional circumstances, and other factors. With this object in mind, several song repertoires and music course books have been analyzed, musical elements have been identified under headings in line with the purpose of the study, and they are further explained in findings section. Music teachers are also provided with suggestions on the process of selecting songs, related to the headings.
