SCRUTINY ON THE SOCIAL APPEARANCE ANXIETY THE INDIVIDUALS ATTENDING FITNESS CENTER

This study has been conducted to determine the social appearance anxiety levels of the individuals attending a fitness center in the province of Karaman and to determine whether they differentiate in line with their personality traits or not. The population of the study is constituted by the individuals attending a fitness center in the province of Karaman and a questionnaire was applied to 300 of them. The personal information form developed by the researcher, the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale developed by Hart et al (2008) and adapted to Turkish by Do?an (2010) were used for the study to achieve its objective. In the analysis of the data, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were conducted as the distribution upon the One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test appeared as nonparametric. In conclusion of the study, it was determined that the individuals taking part in it had low-level social appearance anxiety. While no significant difference was determined in terms of social appearance anxiety in some demographic properties, such significant difference was present in some others.
