RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CAREER ANXIETY AND OPTIMISM-PESSIMISM: AN INVESTIGATION ON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The perception of the working life of the high school students who are faced with the career options at the stage of shaping their future begin to develop at this process. Their future optimism and pessimism levels and career concerns are leading topics which they often express at the period which they are in. With this research, it was aimed to determine the anxiety, optimism, and pessimism levels of young people in their profession and career choices and to determine the relationship between these variables. The data collection tool used in the study is composed of 31 expressions suitable for the 5-point Likert response. The first scale is “Scale for Determining Career Concerns”, the other scale is “OptimismPessimism Scale in Adolescents”. The number of samples is 330. Findings suggested that the level of anxiety related to the choice of profession decreases as optimism increases, and the anxiety of choice of profession increases as pessimism increases.
