Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Election -held in Istanbul on March 31, canceled on May 6 by Supreme Election Council’s decision, repeated on June 23- has a critical importance for the Turkish political history as well as the role of the media in the decisions taken in this process. The findings of this study show us, some types of media in Turkey are transforming "the unofficial broadcast tools of political parties". In this study the role and impact of the media in the political crisis between the Justice and Development Party (AKP), request the cancellation of the elections in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality with the claim of “getting involved in cheating” and the Republican People’s Party (CHP) acting from the argument “the acquired rights are trying to be taken back” is measured. With discourse analysis, how political party addiction shaped the news has been determined, and also how the reader was turned into a tool of manipulation to convince a wing based on Chomsky's "manufacturing consent theory”. "Consent" here; public pressure is created in the decision to be taken for the fate of the elections, “Manufacturing” is the production of the news, which is the greatest asset of the media, in accordance with the ideological purpose of obtaining this consent. For this reason, the newspapers; Cumhuriyet, Sabah, Sözcü and Yeni ?afak were analyzed with a total of 193 news, which were published between April 1, 2019 and May 7, 2019.
