Abstract

Author(s): Hüseyin ARAK

In this study we have tried to state how the German hero King Rother and the Turkish hero Sajjid Bathal Ghazi strove for the same goal: The conquest of Istanbul. This study also aims to find out whether there are other common points in origins of these two epics. Both heroes were examined in our study with the help of the comparative method regarding their historical reality. Although both epics come from different cultures, they have many things in common and both heroes try to fulfill the expectations of their societies.
