The study aims to research the potential of cultural and belief tourism in vicinity of Konya. To reach this purpose primarily field works and observations were performed in 2008 in the areas having worth in terms of cultural and belief tourism. Constituents like tourism worth, interests of tourists, tourism infrastructure (transportation, accommodation) and tourist promotion were analyzed. Required negotiations and interviews were met and touristic places were taken photos in the field works. Gathered data were assessed according to SWOT/GZFT analyze method. As a consequence of the research, it has been determined that Konya city center and its districts have a significant tourism potential considering cultural and belief tourism. Because Konya does the honors for many invaluable historical settlements extending 5500 B.C. up to the first Christian temples. Besides, since Konya was the capital to Seljuks, Seljuks and the seignior of Karamanoullar? and Ottomans left many significant historical works and buildings. Especially Mevlana that has a big effect upon Konya and our national culture, and many other intellectuals lived and wrote their works in Konya.
